Interior Furnishing

A room should feel collected, not completed.

CHROMA & CHORA offers interior furnishing services for individual rooms, complete residences and selected commercial spaces.

Beginning with the architecture already in place, we develop a considered furnishing direction around the way the space will be used, the atmosphere it should hold and the relationship between colour, proportion, material and movement.

The service may include furniture planning, custom furniture, product selection, spatial visualisation, procurement, delivery coordination and final placement guidance.

This is a furnishing and furniture-planning service. It does not ordinarily include architectural renovation, structural work, building approval, electrical design or construction documentation unless expressly included in a separate written scope.

What the service may include

The exact scope is developed around each project. Depending on the room and level of involvement required, we may provide:

Furniture layout and spatial planning

Using the supplied floor plan and room dimensions, we consider circulation, scale, sightlines and the relationship between each piece.

The resulting plan indicates where key furniture should be positioned and how the arrangement can support the intended use of the room.

Design direction

We establish a clear visual direction for the project, including:

  • Colour relationships
  • Material and finish direction
  • Furniture proportions
  • Visual weight and balance
  • The relationship between new and existing pieces
  • The overall atmosphere of the room

The intention is not to fill every available surface. It is to establish a composition in which each object has a reason to be present.

Furniture selection

We may recommend furniture from the CHROMA & CHORA collection, develop customised or bespoke pieces, and source complementary furniture or objects from selected external suppliers.

Depending on the project, the selection may include:

  • Seating
  • Tables
  • Storage furniture
  • Beds and bedside furniture
  • Lighting
  • Rugs
  • Mirrors
  • Selected decorative objects
  • Other non-structural furnishing elements

Every recommendation is considered in relation to the complete room rather than as an isolated purchase.

Custom furniture

Where a standard piece does not meet the spatial or functional requirements of the room, we may adapt an existing CHROMA & CHORA design or develop a bespoke piece.

Custom furniture is quoted separately and requires written approval and full payment before materials are ordered and production begins.

Spatial visualisations

We may prepare digital visualisations or rendered room views to communicate the proposed arrangement, scale, colour relationships and overall atmosphere.

Visualisations are design communication tools. They help explain how the room is intended to feel and how the proposed furniture will sit within it. They are not technical construction drawings, and screen-based colours and textures may differ from physical materials.

Furniture schedule

Where included in the agreed scope, we prepare a schedule identifying the proposed furniture, quantities, dimensions, materials, finishes, supplier information and relevant notes.

The schedule allows the design proposal and procurement costs to be reviewed separately and clearly.

Procurement

Once the design direction and furniture selections have been approved, we can prepare a separate procurement quotation.

Procurement may include the purchase of CHROMA & CHORA pieces, approved third-party furniture, custom production, freight, delivery and other agreed services.

No furniture is ordered until the procurement quotation has been approved and the required payment has been received.

Delivery coordination and placement

Where included in the project scope, we can coordinate furniture deliveries and provide placement guidance according to the approved plan.

Assembly, installation, wall fixing, electrical work, packaging removal, storage and specialist access services are included only where expressly stated in the quotation.

Our process

01

Initial enquiry

Begin by sending:

  • A floor plan with dimensions
  • Photographs or video of the existing space
  • The rooms to be included
  • The people who will use the space
  • Existing furniture to be retained
  • Functional requirements
  • Preferred colours, materials or references
  • Delivery location
  • Budget range
  • Intended timeline

Accurate plans and measurements are essential. If the information supplied is incomplete, we may request additional documentation before preparing a proposal.

02

Scope and design fee

After reviewing the project, we define the rooms, deliverables and level of service required.

You will receive a written proposal setting out the design scope, design fee, payment requirements, anticipated stages and any exclusions.

The design fee covers the professional design work identified in the proposal. It is separate from the cost of furniture, products, manufacturing, freight, delivery and installation.

Design work begins after the proposal has been accepted and the applicable design fee has been paid.

03

Design development

We develop the spatial arrangement, furniture direction, colour relationships and material language of the project.

This stage may include furniture layouts, reference imagery, material direction, proposed products, custom furniture concepts and preliminary visualisations.

04

Design presentation

The developed proposal is presented through the deliverables specified in the project scope. These may include:

  • A furniture layout
  • Design direction or concept boards
  • Colour and material selections
  • Furniture recommendations
  • Custom furniture concepts
  • Rendered room views
  • A preliminary furniture schedule

The number and format of revisions will be stated in the individual project proposal.

05

Final design approval

Following the agreed revision process, the furniture plan, selections, specifications and visual direction are finalised.

Client approval is required before procurement or custom production begins.

06

Procurement quotation

Furniture and procurement costs are prepared separately from the design fee. The procurement quotation may include:

  • Furniture and objects
  • Custom furniture production
  • Supplier charges
  • Freight and delivery
  • Assembly or installation where applicable
  • Other project-specific services

Availability and supplier pricing may change until an order has been confirmed and paid.

07

Ordering and production

After the procurement quotation has been approved and the required payment received, we place the approved orders and schedule any custom production.

Customised and bespoke pieces require full payment before materials are ordered or production begins.

08

Delivery and placement

We coordinate the agreed delivery services and provide placement guidance based on the approved furniture plan.

The property must be complete, safe, accessible and ready to receive furniture. Any access restrictions, building requirements or delivery conditions must be disclosed in advance.

Design fees and procurement costs

Design and procurement are separate stages. The exact scope and fees are provided by email after we review the floor plan, project requirements and expected level of service.

The design fee may cover

  • Review of the project brief
  • Furniture planning
  • Design direction
  • Colour and material development
  • Furniture selection
  • Custom furniture concepts
  • Visualisations or rendered views
  • Furniture schedules
  • The agreed revision process

Procurement costs may include

  • Furniture and objects
  • Custom manufacturing
  • Third-party supplier charges
  • Freight
  • Delivery
  • Assembly
  • Installation
  • Storage
  • Other agreed services
